Clotrimazole 1%, betamethasone 0.1%
Indications/Uses
Dermal fungal infections eg, tinea pedis, tinea cruris & tinea corporis caused by Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum & Candidiasis due to Candida albicans.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Massage into affected area of skin bid (morning & evening). Tinea corporis & tinea cruris Apply for 1 wk & re-evaluate thereafter. Max dose: 45 g weekly. Max duration: 2 wk. Tinea pedis Apply for 2 wk & re-evaluate thereafter. Max dose: 45 g weekly. Max duration: 4 wk. Candidiasis Apply for 2 wk & re-evaluate thereafter.
Contraindications
Previous hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, betamethasone dipropionate, other corticosteroids or imidazoles.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment if skin irritation occurs. Not recommended for diaper dermatitis. Reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome manifestations, hyperglycemia & glucosuria. Avoid using on large areas of the body, on broken skin, for prolonged periods of time, or w/ an occlusive dressing. Pregnancy & lactation. Avoid in infant & childn <17 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Paresthesia, edema, secondary infection, blistering, erythema, pruritus, burning, urticaria, skin irritation, contact dermatitis, skin dryness & atrophy, striae, hypopigmentation. Reversible HPA axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome manifestations, hyperglycemia & glucosuria.
Drug Interactions
May increase serum conc of sirolimus & systemic tacrolimus.
